VP of Operations, Detroit Public Television

Laura Brandt

Laura Brandt serves as Vice President of Operations at Detroit Public Television (DPTV) where she oversees local production, programming, engineering, and digital marketing. Her role also includes serving as EOS Integrator, working to align all departments and drive the organization in goal setting against the Strategic Plan.

A graduate of the University of Michigan, Laura began her career at DPTV in public media in 2006 as an intern, advancing from a coordinator to her most recent position as a member of the station’s leadership team.

Laura’s accomplishments include leading the development of the station’s web streaming production format, combining new and traditional media into a digital platform for programming. She launched the successful Live from Orchestra Hall webcast series in partnership with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and produced over 150 live concerts; Managed DPTV’s Mackinac Policy Conference coverage for eleven consecutive years; and served as executive producer for the Detroit Performs Live annual concert event. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Laura was an instrumental part of the team that launched the organization’s Michigan Learning Channel¸ a 24/7 statewide public television partnership offering instructional content to support the education of students and to provide alternative resources for families and teachers.

Laura was recognized as University of Michigan-Dearborn Mentor of the Year (2015) for her contributions to the internship program. She has also received 7 Michigan Association of Broadcast Awards.
