Dorothy McGrath
Dorothy McGrath is the Production Manager at Milwaukee PBS. She ensures all the station’s productions run smoothly by preparing her Emmy Award-winning staff with the time, organization, equipment, and resources to produce Milwaukee PBS’s world-class productions. In addition, she is also responsible for creating production guidelines taking into consideration factors such as quality, efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
She began her career in television at Nebraska Public Media as a producer, director, and editor for national educational children’s programs, wildlife series, and documentaries. She also produced and directed sports and live-series programs. From there, Dorothy moved on to Missouri PBS as the Manager of Television and Community Programs. She oversaw all aspects of the station’s productions, building an award-winning and inventive Production Department.
With a passion for innovative projects, Dorothy produced the first webcast series with a social media platform in 1997, when Mark Zuckerberg was in Junior High School. She has also successfully faced many and varying challenges throughout her career, from transitioning PBS stations to High Definition, creating the first sports webcast and videoboard operations for a University, transporting an airplane museum to a new location and working remotely while planning for the DNC during a pandemic.
In her spare time, she truly enjoys serving others. She has served on the board of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance and has served as chair for both the National Educational Telecommunications Association’s Content Peer Learning Community and the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging.
