Our Mentoring Program
PMWL is excited to transition our one-on-one mentoring program to peer group mentoring called Mentoring Circles.
The first circle for Fall 2023 is now open! Apply today:
What IS A Mentoring Circle?
A mentoring circle is a peer-to-peer support community that connects you with others in the public media system who share common interests or learning objectives, and allows you to learn together as a group. Mentoring circles help you create professional relationships and networks to fuel your career development.
How are Mentoring Circles different from one-on-one mentoring?
Mentoring Circles are peer groups led by one facilitator called the Circle Lead and comprised of up to 25 members who join monthly virtual sessions around a specific subject.
Not only will you receive guidance from the Circle Lead, but also from your peers who might also be faced with similar challenges.
In order to protect everyone’s privacy all members and circle leads will sign a Code of Conduct which further describes the behavior that members and leads are expected to abide by, which includes respecting boundaries and calls for confidentiality.
How will Mentoring Circles work?
Step 1: Apply to Mentoring Circles as a Member
Step 2: Review the list of available Mentoring Circles.
Step 3: Join one of the circles you’d like to take part in. Circle slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Once within a circle, you’ll be able to participate in the monthly meetings. Pay extra close attention to the proposed schedule posted by the Circle Lead.
