Dr. Salandra Bowman
Dr. Salandra Bowman is the Chief Learning Officer at South Carolina ETV. In this role, she oversees educator professional development and community-based training, instructional design, educational productions, and the rich trove of educational resources on KnowItAll.org. Dr. Bowman chairs the PBS KIDS Leadership Council and serves as member of the PBS LearningMedia Advisory Group. As an executive producer, she amplifies diverse voices through projects like The Cool and the Strong, SOLKit: Guideposts for Black Girlhood Celebration and Conversations with Crescent, an animated program co-produced by Black girls in South Carolina. As reflected in her projects, Dr. Bowman is very passionate about youth participatory action research and creating epistemically agentic environments with young people.
Dr. Bowman is a proud first-generation college graduate with undergraduate degrees in English and African American Studies from the University of South Carolina, a master’s in African American and African Studies from The Ohio State University, and a doctoral degree in Educational Foundations and Qualitative Studies from her alma mater. She is a Riley Follow of the Diversity Leadership Initiative at Furman University, member of several community boards, and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
