Cheri Russo

Cheri Russo is the Community Engagement and Membership Manager at WOUB Public Media (Radio and TV) in Athens, Ohio. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University in 1996. After graduation, she worked as a commercial TV news reporter, producer and anchor in Rhinelander, WI; Mansfield, OH; and Youngstown, OH before coming to work in a public media newsroom at WOUB in 2004. Russo reported and produced news for both radio and TV, while also producing local TV documentaries. While working in the WOUB newsroom, Russo completed her master’s degree in journalism from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University in 2007. In 2012, Russo became the marketing and public relations manager at Ohio University’s Lancaster Campus. In 2015, Russo accepted the marketing and public relations director position at Ohio State Newark and Central Ohio Technical College. In 2019, Russo returned to WOUB to use her skills in marketing, public relations, storytelling, and event management to build a community engagement and membership program.
